Research Engineer

DefSecIntel Solutions (DSI) is an innovative technology company specializing in the development of world-class autonomous surveillance systems for defence and security. DSI’s technologies assist in the fight against cross-border crimes, smuggling and illegal border crossings. Our systems are deployed in Ukraine, assisting UAAF on the fight against russian aggression. We work closely with global prime contractors and participate in international programs for defence, border security and force protection. We have 80+ employees and we operate internationally from Tallinn, Estonia. DSI was awarded in 2023 as “the best Estonian defence company 2023”.
We are looking for a research engineer, who will play a crucial role in driving forward our research initiatives, in particular as a first project contributing to European Defence Operational Collaborative Cloud (EDOCC) and its cybersecurity system design in collaboration with colleagues and other EU industry partners.
What you will be doing:
- Participating in large scope of international collaboration R&D projects (EDF, HORIZON etc.) and internal research directly related to product development
- Planning and executing technical and research tasks
- Prototyping and writing technical proof of concepts
- Writing publications of project results if required
- Evaluating new R&D project ideas and writing R&D project proposals with your technical expertise.
- Representing DSI in project technical meetings and doing demos of your technical tasks results to project our partners and stakeholders.
What we are looking for:
- Degree in STEM / Computer science or equivalent field
- Experience with writing and compiling proof on concepts and prototypes
- Experience with cloud or cybersecurity design, data architecture, virtual IP-network, gateways and/or network operations center design
- Ability to take technical ownership of tasks and challenges
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate complex technical concepts effectively to diverse audiences
- Strong analytical and solution-oriented mindset, with the ability to think creatively and adapt to evolving research challenges
- Collaborative team player, who is always ready to contribute positively to the team efforts
- The candidate must be a citizen of an EU member state, a NATO member state, or Ukraine
Nice to haves:
- Experience with training of AI models
- Experience with Multimodal Sensor Fusion techniques
